Translator/Interpreters

During this period he writes three screenplays for the Swiss film director Steff Gruber: "La belle Touareg", "Lionheart" e "Secret Moments", filmed in Amsterdam in 1992.

Back to Brazil he graduated in 1994 as Conference Interpreter by PUC University in Rio. He has translated several books from English and French, and translates regularly for several magazines, such as the Brazilian edition of Business Week, National Geographic and Scientific American among others. He is also since 1998 free lance interpreter in the Portuguese language Unit of the European Union's Service Commun Interpretation Conferences in Brussels, where he lived until recently.

As interpreter, Mauro specializes in the areas of IT, telecom and engineering, specially oil & gas, chemical, metallurgical and environmental.

Mauro also gives regularly talks and presentations to fellow translators and interpreters on the latest development on areas like Oil & Gas, Energy and the Environment.

Mr. Pereira also offers simultaneous, consecutive, and escorting interpreting for a variety of organizations in Brazil and in the U.S., including public and private corporations, and NGO's (e.g., Sun Microsystems, the U.S. Department of State, the American Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Post Office, and the ONG Ashoka). He has worked as an interpreter in a wide range of fields, especially government, trade, academic and telecommunications conferences, most recently at a seminar on monetary policy at the Banco Central do Brasil, in Rio de Janeiro; for the Free Trade Area of the Americas Meeting in Miami; for the National Retail Federation Conference in New York; for the U.S. Department of State, interpreting for high-profile Brazilian visitors on government-sponsored visits to the U.S.; and for the 15th Congress of the International Union of Phlebology.

Prior to his work as a Translator & Interpreter, Mr. Pereira had extensive experience in the travel industry. He worked many years as a Tour Guide in Rio de Janeiro, as a Travel Agent in San Francisco, and also as a Tour Director leading groups of visitors to both the U.S. and Brazil.

After studying Art and Design at Sunderland Polytechnic in the U.K., Mr. Pereira studied Architecture and Computer Science at the City College of San Francisco. Afterwards, he studied Design and Industry at San Francisco State University. An avid traveler, he then studied Written Translation (English/Portuguese) and Conference Interpreting (English/Portuguese/Spanish); at the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro.

She is an accomplished world traveler with many years of managerial experience, including analyzing projects, identifying needs, troubleshooting problems and ensuring a positive outcome. She has visited many countries in Africa, South and Central America, Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and most European countries, providing her with a broad technical vocabulary.
